200,000 Tons of Green Hydrogen to Flow from South America to Germany Annually

SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe), Eletrobras, and EnerTech have announced a collaboration to supply 200,000 tons of green hydrogen annually from Brazil to Germany and Europe, starting by 2030. The agreement marks a milestone in advancing sustainable energy solutions and decarbonizing industrial processes across the region.

The partnership includes the development of green hydrogen production facilities in Brazil, utilizing electricity generated from hydropower and other renewable sources. SEFE will oversee the shipment of green ammonia to Germany and the subsequent transport of green hydrogen through specialized infrastructure, marketing it exclusively in Europe.

Dr. Egbert Laege, CEO of SEFE, highlighted the venture's significance, stating, "This partnership demonstrates our commitment to both energy security in Europe and leadership in the energy transition." Eletrobras, Brazil's largest electric power company, emphasized the alignment with its Net Zero goal by 2030, with nearly 97% of its energy already sourced from clean methods.

Italo Freitas, Executive Vice President of Eletrobras, called the collaboration a demonstration of the company's commitment to environmental stewardship and clean energy for the planet.

Anas Meerza, Chairman of EnerTech, shared enthusiasm for initiating the partnership, which aligns with EnerTech's focus on green hydrogen and global decarbonization efforts.

This collaboration highlights the growing global focus on renewable energy and hydrogen technology as tools to meet ambitious climate goals.
