ABB to Invest $110 Million in U.S. Manufacturing Expansion
ABB announced it will invest $110 million in 2025 to expand its U.S. manufacturing and R&D operations, aimed at supporting growth in data centers, grid modernization, and advanced electrification technologies. The move will also create nearly 200 new jobs across four sites.
The company will invest $30 million in Richmond, Virginia, doubling the site's footprint to include a test center, warehouse, and assembly lines. The expansion, set to open in Q4 2025, will add around 100 engineering and production roles.
In Arecibo, Puerto Rico, ABB will invest over $30 million to add three new production lines, creating 90 skilled jobs by 2026.
A new production line for the company's Emax 3 circuit breaker will be established in Senatobia, Mississippi, with a $15 million investment. The Emax 3 protects critical infrastructure such as data centers and airports, with the new line expected to open in 2026.
Meanwhile, $35 million will be invested in Pinetops, North Carolina, to increase production of low- and medium-voltage grid components for utilities, data centers, and industrial facilities.
The announcement follows ABB's recent U.S. expansion program, which included $500 million of investments between 2022 and 2024 and a further $120 million announced in March 2025. The company generated nearly $9 billion in U.S. revenue in 2024, representing about 27% of total ABB Group revenue.
