ABO Energy Wins 16.4 MW in German Wind Tender, Sells 6-MW Project
ABO Energy GmbH & Co KGaA has secured 16.4 MW of onshore wind power capacity in Germany’s latest federal tender and sold the rights to a 6-MW project, marking notable progress for the German renewables developer.
In the oversubscribed tender managed by the Federal Network Agency, which allocated 3,445 MW in total, ABO Energy won support for two projects: a 6.8-MW turbine in North Rhine-Westphalia and two turbines totaling 9.6 MW in Baden-Württemberg. Both sites are extensions of wind farms currently under construction and are expected to be operational by autumn 2027.
Separately, the company has sold the rights to the Nonnenholz II wind farm, a 6-MW Vestas V162 turbine, to an undisclosed “regional market participant.” The project is fully permitted with tariffs in place and can be implemented quickly.
In addition, ABO Energy received approvals for two new wind parks: the 21-MW Olpe-Rehringhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia (three Enercon E-175 turbines) and the 14-MW Tholey in Saarland (two Nordex N163 turbines).
“We currently have 650 MW of permitted wind projects in Germany. This provides a strong foundation for additional revenues in the coming months and years,” said Kristof Frank, general manager responsible for wind energy development in Germany.
With these developments, ABO Energy strengthens its pipeline in Germany and positions itself to capitalize on continued growth in the country’s onshore wind sector.
