Ameresco, Inc. has announced a major contract with Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) to construct a groundbreaking Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This 25-megawatt system, with a 100 megawatt-hour capacity guaranteed for 20 years, represents the largest standalone battery project in the Pacific Northwest to date.

Scheduled to commence construction by late 2024 and operational by late 2025, the BESS will enable Snohomish PUD to enhance system reliability and flexibility while mitigating energy price volatility. Under a 25-year tolling agreement, Ameresco will retain ownership of the asset, providing exclusive services to Snohomish PUD.
