Apex Clean Energy Closes $2.79 Billion in Financing for Wind and Storage Projects
Apex Clean Energy has closed financing agreements totaling approximately $2.79 billion for three utility‑scale renewable energy projects in Texas, Ohio, and Illinois, supporting nearly 670 megawatts of wind and energy storage capacity. The funding will cover both construction and operational phases.
The projects include Raven Storage, a 100‑MW battery energy storage system in Wharton County, Texas, developed as part of SA Grid Solutions, a joint venture between Apex, SK Gas, and SK Eternix, with funding from Bank of Hope. In Ohio, the 269‑MW Emerson Creek Wind project in Erie and Huron Counties is backed by a construction and term loan and tax equity commitments from CIBC, Helaba, Santander, and Wells Fargo. In Illinois, the 300‑MW Coles Wind facility in Coles County received construction and term financing underwritten by Santander, with tax equity provided by J.P. Morgan.
Apex Clean Energy says the financings close out a year of notable portfolio growth and position the company to advance its projects into 2026. In 2025, Apex brought 1.1 GW of new capacity online across six states and commercialized more than 1.5 GW of projects while continuing to develop a diversified pipeline of renewable energy assets.
