Apple Invests $600M in 650MW European Renewable Projects

14 Oct 2025
Apple has announced a US$600 million investment to support 650MW of new solar and wind energy projects across Europe, as part of its broader goal to generate 3,000GWh of renewable energy annually by 2030.

The projects are expected to produce over 1,000GWh per year--enough to power one-third of Apple's 2030 clean energy target. The company reported that in 2024, approximately 29% of its total greenhouse gas emissions came from energy used to power and charge its devices.

"This investment will help ensure that by 2030, every Apple device charged by our users is powered by clean energy," said Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives.

The company is backing several large-scale clean energy developments across Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Romania.

In Poland, Apple signed a 19-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Econergy for the 40MW Resko solar project, due online later this year. Other offtake deals include Nala Renewables' 99MW wind farm in Romania and a 110MW solar farm in Latvia developed by European Energy.

In Spain, Apple supported the 134MWp Castano solar project by ib vogt, already operational. In Greece, it has agreed to procure power from a 110MW solar farm operated by HELLENiQ ENERGY. In Italy, it is backing a 129MW portfolio of solar and wind projects, with the first solar plant in Sicily set to come online this month.
