Apple Signs 650 MW of Clean Energy Deals Across Europe
Apple has signed new agreements for 650 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity across Europe, expanding its clean energy portfolio and reinforcing its commitment to carbon neutrality throughout its operations and supply chain.
The portfolio includes solar farms with capacities ranging from 40 MW to 131 MW across Spain, Greece, Latvia, and Poland, as well as a 99 MW wind project in Romania. In addition, Apple will source energy from part of a 129 MW hybrid solar and wind project in Italy.
The new European capacity is designed to help offset electricity consumed by Apple customers through use of the company's products--an activity that accounts for roughly one-third of Apple's total carbon footprint.
Alongside the European expansion, Apple announced a $150 million investment in China to help suppliers transition to renewable energy. More than 90% of Apple's manufacturing operations in China are already powered by renewables, and the new investment aims to accelerate that transition across its broader supply chain.
The announcements were made via Apple's regional newsrooms rather than its U.S. press site, marking a shift from prior years when global renewable energy updates were centrally published.
Apple's move follows broader industry trends, with major technology companies increasingly investing in wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Meta recently added over 2 GW of solar capacity, while Microsoft has signed new deals totaling 1.5 GW of renewable energy capacity in 2025 alone.
