Argentina Seeks Bids for Power Grid Expansion Project in Santiago del Estero Province

4 May 2023

Argentina is looking for companies to submit bids for a power grid infrastructure construction contract worth 5.50 billion pesos (US$24 million). The work includes expanding a 132kV line and building a new transformer station in Santiago del Estero province. The administrative committee of federal electricity transport trust fund FFTEF is overseeing the tender process.

The project is part of a federal grid development plan, which consists of 22 batches of projects of 132kV and 220kV that were approved last year and are currently underway. The program aims to modernize and expand the grid, reduce fossil fuel-fired generation, support the addition of renewable energy capacity, and enhance reliability. In addition, Buenos Aires province has opened bids for a 3.84 billion-peso transformer station project, Chivilcoy II, which will connect to the provincial trunk distribution system, with financing from the Latin American development bank CAF.
