Avantus, Toyota Group Finalize 159 MW Solar Project in Texas
U.S.-based Avantus and Toyota Tsusho America have completed construction of the 159 MW Norton Solar Project in Texas, marking a milestone in their clean energy collaboration.
The project, located in Runnels County, will supply its full output under a long-term virtual power purchase agreement with Toyota Motor North America, supporting the company’s sustainability objectives.
Toyota Tsusho America, a subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corp., partnered with Avantus on the development, with the latter overseeing project execution. UK-based Renewable Energy Systems (RES) acted as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor.
The solar facility is expected to contribute to regional economic development, having created nearly 250 jobs during peak construction, with ongoing benefits anticipated for the local community throughout its operational life.
The completion of the Norton Solar Project reflects continued investment in utility-scale renewable energy across the United States, as corporations increasingly secure long-term clean power supply agreements.
Avantus is advancing a significant pipeline of renewable energy projects, including approximately 24 GW of solar capacity and 75 GWh of energy storage across the western U.S.
