Brazil’s Casa dos Ventos Partners with Nextracker on Utility-Scale Solar
Casa dos Ventos, one of Brazil's leading renewable energy developers, has selected Nextracker to supply solar tracking systems for 1.5 GW of new utility-scale solar and hybrid projects across Brazil.
The agreement covers four major solar projects: Babilônia Sul (117 MW), Babilônia Centro (226 MW), Seriemas (540 MW), and Rio Brilhante (680 MW). These projects span the states of Bahia and Mato Grosso do Sul, and represent Casa dos Ventos's first large-scale solar deployment as the company expands beyond its traditional wind energy operations.
The installations will use Nextracker's NX Horizon-XTR™ all-terrain solar tracker systems, specifically engineered for hilly and uneven landscapes, reducing the need for grading. All sites will also integrate TrueCapture®, an intelligent control system that adjusts panel angles using real-time sensor and machine learning data to optimize energy generation.
Thiago Rezende, Director of Construction and Operations at Casa dos Ventos, stated that Nextracker's engineering capabilities and reliability were key factors in the partnership. Alejo Lopez, Vice President of Nextracker Latin America, emphasized the importance of long-term performance and site-specific adaptability.
This move underscores the growing trend of hybrid wind-solar deployments in Brazil as developers seek to optimize grid connections and land use. It also aligns with Brazil's goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, with projections of 13.2 GW of new solar capacity in 2025 alone.
