BrightNight and Cordelio Power Partner with APS for Clean Energy Project in Arizona
BrightNight and Cordelio Power have announced a new power purchase agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS) to deliver clean, reliable energy to Arizona customers. Under the agreement, APS will purchase carbon-free power from the Pioneer Clean Energy Center, a hybrid solar and battery storage facility in Yuma County, Arizona. The center will produce 300 MW of solar power and store 1,200 MWh of energy, contributing to APS's goal of providing cost-effective, clean energy to meet Arizona's growing power demand.
BrightNight's CEO, Martin Hermann, emphasized the long-term value of the project, noting its potential to foster local economic growth and energy resilience in Yuma County. Brian Cole, Vice President of Resource Management at APS, highlighted the strategic importance of renewable energy projects like Pioneer, which will support Arizona's future energy needs.
The facility will begin construction in September 2025 and is expected to be operational by April 2027. It will also contribute significant local benefits, including job creation, tax revenue, and sustainable energy without straining local infrastructure.
