Clearlight Gets Approval for 122-MW Wind Farm in Quebec
LS Power’s portfolio company Clearlight Energy and its partner Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est have received government approval to build a 122.3-MW wind farm in Quebec. The decision follows a favorable report from the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE).
The project, known as Parc éolien Canton MacNider, will be located in the municipalities of Saint-Damase and St-Noel in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. The wind farm will feature 20 turbines, supplying green electricity to Hydro-Québec and supporting the utility’s goal of reaching 10 GW of wind power capacity by 2035.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks through the 50/50 partnership Parc éolien Canton MacNider Commandite inc. Wind turbine towers will be manufactured locally at Marmen Inc. in Matane, and the construction phase is anticipated to create around 150 jobs.
The wind farm is projected to have a lifespan of over 25 years, contributing to Quebec’s renewable energy targets while providing long-term sustainable power to the provincial grid.
