ComEd Unveils $100M in Rebates for EVs and Charging Stations in 2025

7 Feb 2025
ComEd has launched a $100 million rebate program for 2025 to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption and expand charging infrastructure across northern Illinois. Announced at the Chicago Auto Show, the initiative aims to lower upfront costs for residential, business, and public sector customers.

The funding is allocated across three key programs: $53 million for EV fleet purchases, $38 million for charging infrastructure upgrades, and $9 million for residential Level 2 (L2) chargers, with rebates of up to $3,750 per charger.

Melissa Washington, SVP of Customer Operations and Strategic Initiatives at ComEd, emphasized the importance of supporting customers through the EV transition, ensuring both grid readiness and community access to charging solutions.

The rebates align with Illinois' Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), which targets 1 million EVs on the road by 2030. Megha Lakhchaura, State EV Officer of Illinois, highlighted the rebates as a driver for zero-emission transportation, particularly benefiting low-income and equity-eligible communities, which will receive more than half of the total funding.

Since launching its EV programs in 2024, ComEd has supported 3,500+ charging ports and 200+ EV fleet vehicles across 300 ZIP codes.

Customers can apply for rebates and check eligibility at www.comed.com/clean.
