Construction Commences on TransnetBW GmbH SuedLink DC3 Converter Station in Leingarten, Germany

Siemens Energy, one of the key collaborators in this endeavor, will be supplying two converter stations with a combined capacity of 2 GW.


In a significant step towards advancing the integration of renewable energy into the transmission grid, TransnetBW GmbH, along with its partners Siemens Energy and TenneT TSO GmbH, marked the ceremonial start of construction for the SuedLink DC3 converter station yesterday. The SuedLink DC3 converter station holds immense promise in enabling efficient energy transport over long distances, paving the way for a greener and sustainable future. With renewable energy sources gaining momentum, the converter station will play a crucial role in ensuring a reliable supply of green energy to industries and households alike.

 

Siemens Energy, one of the key collaborators in this endeavor, will be supplying two converter stations with a combined capacity of 2 GW. These stations will be based on Siemens' cutting-edge HVDC PLUS technology, renowned for its efficiency and stability in transmitting electricity over long distances. The collaboration between TransnetBW GmbH, Siemens Energy, and TenneT TSO GmbH signifies a concerted effort to accelerate the transition towards renewable energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
