EU Approves Danish Aid for Solar, Wind and Battery Manufacturing

The European Commission has approved a $ 96,8 million (€84 million) state aid scheme in Denmark to support manufacturing capacity for clean technologies and their key components.

The scheme will provide direct grants to companies investing in manufacturing facilities for net-zero technologies and related critical raw materials needed to produce the final products. The support is being provided under the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF).

Eligible technologies include solar photovoltaic and solar thermal components, onshore and offshore wind equipment, as well as parts and tools for battery and other energy storage systems, hydrogen production units, power grids and other clean power and heat technologies.

The aid scheme will be available until December 31, 2026.

The European Commission said the measure is intended to support the transition to a net-zero economy. It also assessed the scheme as proportionate, with support limited to the minimum necessary and expected to have a limited effect on competition and trade within the EU.
