Duke Energy and GE Vernova Partner to Secure Gas Turbines for Growing Energy Demands

29 Apr 2025
Duke Energy and GE Vernova  have entered into a significant partnership to meet the growing energy demands of the U.S. economy. The agreement will see Duke Energy secure up to 11 advanced GE Vernova natural gas turbines, helping the company ensure reliable energy supply for expanding sectors such as manufacturing and data centers.

The deal, part of Duke Energy's integrated resource plans, supports their long-term strategy to meet rising energy demands while keeping costs manageable for customers. This partnership builds upon Duke Energy's recent acquisition of eight 7HA gas turbines.

A key aspect of the agreement is GE Vernova's expansion of its manufacturing facility in Greenville, S.C. The $600 million investment in U.S. production, which includes the creation of 1,500 new jobs, will help meet the demand for these turbines and ensure quicker, cost-effective deployment.

Duke Energy's President and CEO, Harry Sideris, emphasized that the collaboration is vital for the company's strategy to modernize energy infrastructure and meet evolving energy needs. GE Vernova's CEO, Scott Strazik, added that this partnership underscores their commitment to providing innovative energy solutions to address future demands.
