EBRD Funds Enerjisa Enerji to Rebuild Power Grid in Türkiye’s Earthquake-Hit Region
The disaster resulted in more than 55,000 fatalities and caused widespread infrastructure damage. The Toroslar region represents about one-third of Enerjisa Enerji's total operations.
The EBRD's funding will help rebuild the local grid and support the development of distributed solar power plants, aligning with Türkiye's green energy transition goals. The investment aims to reduce electricity distribution losses and carbon emissions while improving long-term energy reliability.
The loan is part of the EBRD's broader €1.5 billion two-year recovery package for Türkiye, which also includes credit lines, SME support, and infrastructure investment.
Matteo Patrone, EBRD Vice President for Banking, emphasised the importance of long-term commitment to rebuilding, stating that "reliable, sustainable power is fundamental to both human well-being and economic recovery."
Philipp Ulbrich, CFO of Enerjisa Enerji, highlighted the importance of international financing in challenging environments and praised the strong partnership with the EBRD.
The collaboration also marks the launch of the Board Director Nomination Toolkit for Companies in Türkiye, promoting gender diversity and sustainable governance in the private sector.
