EnBW and Siemens Energy Sign Long-Term Solar Power Purchase Agreement
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) and Siemens Energy have signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for solar output from the newly completed Frankenförde photovoltaic park in Brandenburg. The facility, located around 60 kilometers south of Berlin and commissioned in June 2025, will deliver up to 40 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually over a ten-year term beginning January 1, 2026.
With the agreement, Siemens Energy becomes the sole offtaker of the plant’s output, covering nearly a quarter of the electricity needs of its German operations. The 40.8 MWp installation supports Siemens Energy’s broader decarbonization strategy, building on its achievement of sourcing 100% green electricity globally since 2023 through certified guarantees of origin.
Dieter Vollkommer, Head of Sustainability at Siemens Energy, said the PPA strengthens long-term supply security while supporting the company’s goal of achieving climate-neutral business operations by 2030. David Beaton, Commercial Director Trading at EnBW, described the deal as another step in the company’s expansion as a major PPA provider for industry.
The agreement also continues the long-standing collaboration between the two companies, which includes work on the hydrogen-ready power plant in Stuttgart-Münster, offshore wind projects Hohe See and Albatros, and cooperation on the SuedLink transmission project.
