Enel to Acquire 830 MW of US Wind and Solar Assets for $1 Billion
Enel S.p.A. announced that its subsidiaries, Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, have signed agreements to acquire an 830 MW portfolio of wind and solar plants in the United States from Excelsior Energy Capital. The portfolio is expected to generate around 2.1 TWh annually.
The acquisition is valued at approximately $1 billion (around €850 million), with a total enterprise value of $1.3 billion. Financing will be provided through existing operational cash flows. Once the deal closes, anticipated in the third quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approvals, it is expected to contribute €125 million per year to Enel Group’s consolidated ordinary EBITDA.
This move aligns with Enel Group’s strategy to expand renewable capacity in Tier 1 markets, combining wind, solar, and energy storage. The company projects that North America’s renewable capacity will reach approximately 13 GW following the transaction.
Globally, Enel operates in 28 countries and is a leader in renewables, electricity distribution, and retail services. Its renewable arm, Enel Green Power, has a total capacity of 68 GW, including wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and storage facilities.
