Argentina’s Largest Wind Project Reaches Full Turbine Installation

Goldwind has completed the installation of all 56 wind turbines at the 336 MW La Flecha Wind Farm in Argentina, marking full mechanical completion of what is currently the country’s largest wind project developed for industrial group Aluar.

The final turbine, a GW165 model, was installed in early June, completing a construction phase that involved complex logistics, including six cargo ship unloadings and over 1,400 kilometres of overland transport from Florencio Varela to Puerto Madryn, with no reported incidents.

Once operational, the project is expected to significantly reduce industrial fuel demand, lowering natural gas consumption by around 1.3 million cubic metres per day and cutting approximately 580,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Project Manager Jesús Caraballo said the milestone reflects disciplined execution, noting that “with planning and determination, the results are clear,” adding that the project is helping to “strengthen Argentina's energy matrix, reduce emissions, and lead the transition to a more renewable future.”

The wind farm was initially contracted in 2023 at 312 MW with 52 turbines, before being expanded in 2024 to its final 336 MW capacity through the addition of four turbines.

With installation now complete, the project moves closer to commissioning, expected in October 2026, as Argentina continues to scale up wind capacity to support industrial demand and decarbonisation goals.
