Eaton Launches 4 MW Solar Project to Power Wisconsin Operations

Eaton, a global power management company, is partnering with We Energies to develop a 4-megawatt (MW) solar project in Franksville, Wisconsin, aimed at reducing carbon emissions across five of Eaton's local manufacturing and research facilities.

Slated for completion in early 2026, the installation is expected to offset 30% of annual carbon emissions from Eaton's sites in Franksville, South Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls, and two facilities in Waukesha. This initiative contributes to Eaton's broader goal of achieving net-zero operations by 2050 and supports a 58% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across its Wisconsin operations since 2018.

Under the agreement, We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, will build, own, and operate the solar system. Eaton will provide the land and receive renewable energy credits in return for clean power delivered to the grid. Eaton is also contributing key electrical infrastructure, including transformers manufactured in Waukesha.

Mike Hooper, president of We Energies, called the collaboration a step forward for reliable and renewable power in the state. Guillaume Laur, senior vice president at Eaton, emphasized the project as part of the company's broader strategy to support energy resilience and sustainability.

The solar project aligns with Eaton's "Everything as a Grid" model, which encourages decentralized, intelligent, and environmentally responsible energy systems.
