EBRD Provides $110 Million Loan to Türkiye’s Enerjisa Üretim for Wind Power Expansion

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a $110 million loan to Türkiye's Enerjisa Üretim to facilitate the expansion of its wind power portfolio.

The investment will enable Enerjisa Üretim, one of Türkiye's largest independent power producers, to prevent the release of 52,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Moreover, the project aims to promote employment for young individuals by partnering with local institutions to develop market-relevant skills in the sustainable energy sector.

Nandita Parshad, the Managing Director of Sustainable Infrastructure at the EBRD, emphasized the need to capitalize on Türkiye's renewable energy potential to advance the country's green ambitions and decarbonize its economy. The EBRD has a long-standing partnership with Enerjisa Üretim, which began over a decade ago with the financing of Bares Windfarm, the largest wind power plant in Türkiye at that time. This recent financing signifies the continued collaboration between the two entities to support renewable energy ambitions.

Enerjisa Üretim's CFO, Mert Yaycıoğlu, expressed gratitude for the loan and stated that it brings them closer to achieving their goals. He highlighted the company's focus on not only green energy generation but also creating opportunities for women and youth. To date, the EBRD has invested over 17 billion euros across various sectors of the Turkish economy, predominantly in the private sector.
