Electrification and Collaboration: Keys to a Sustainable Future, Says ABB’s Massimo Muzzì

Electrification is pivotal to achieving cleaner, more efficient energy distribution and use, but fully realizing its potential requires balancing technological innovation with industry-wide collaboration, according to Massimo Muzzì, head of strategy, business development, and sustainability at ABB Electrification.

With carbon emissions continuing to rise, the pressing question is what our climate will look like by Earth Day 2050 and what measures are needed to meet stringent carbon reduction targets and increase renewable energy usage over the next 25 years.

According to the EU's Copernicus programme, 2023 was the hottest year on record globally. This rise in global temperatures corresponds with increasing atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases like CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide, which reached record levels last year.

The impact of climate change on our environment is undeniable. The critical issue is determining how we can collectively mitigate this situation and leverage technology and innovation to slow its progress.
