Enel Adds Seven Operational Solar Plants in U.S. Growth Push

Enel has agreed to acquire a portfolio of seven operational solar plants in the United States, marking another step in its steady expansion of renewable assets in key growth markets.

The portfolio, acquired through Enel Green Power North America, totals approximately 270 MW of installed photovoltaic capacity. The facilities are located across South Carolina (four plants), Virginia (two plants), and North Carolina (one plant), and were purchased from an unnamed utility company in a transaction valued at about $140 million, including debt.

Together, the assets generate roughly 0.4 TWh of electricity annually. Enel expects the portfolio to contribute an incremental positive impact of around $20 million per year to consolidated ordinary EBITDA once fully integrated.

The company said the deal aligns with its strategy of accelerating growth in renewable generation through the acquisition of already-operating assets in established, low-risk markets. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary regulatory and contractual approvals.

The acquisition adds to Enel’s expanding U.S. renewable base, reinforcing its focus on scaling stable cash-flow generation from utility-scale solar assets rather than relying solely on new-build development.
