First Phase of Sequoia Solar’s 815MW Texas Project Goes Online
The first phase of the Sequoia Solar project in Callahan County, Texas, has entered operation, delivering 400 megawatts of new solar capacity to the regional power grid. The full development is expected to reach 815 megawatts once its second phase is completed later this year.
The project is owned and operated by Sequoia Solar and is among the larger utility-scale solar developments currently underway in the United States.
Electricity generated from the site is being sold under long-term power purchase agreements to several corporate buyers, including AT&T, Toyota, PepsiCo, and Donaldson Company.
The launch follows earlier announcements of the project as part of a broader expansion of utility-scale solar capacity in Texas. The state continues to attract large renewable energy investments driven by rising electricity demand and long-term corporate procurement agreements.
Once fully operational, the Sequoia Solar project will be among the larger solar installations in the region.
No financial terms or additional construction timelines for the second phase were disclosed.
