Google Signs Belgian Wind Power Deal with Eneco

Google has expanded its renewable energy partnership with Eneco through a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply the company's data centres in Belgium with locally produced wind energy.

The deal covers output from three Belgian wind farms with a total capacity of 54 MW, reinforcing Eneco's ongoing collaboration with Google, which already includes multiple solar and wind energy agreements in the Netherlands.

Google's Belgian data centre supports its global digital services, including cloud computing, email, AI applications, and search functions. The new agreement contributes to Google's goal of running its operations on carbon-free energy around the clock by 2030.

The announcement coincided with a Belgian trade delegation visit to California, led by Princess Astrid of Belgium, during which Google confirmed plans to expand its Belgian data centre.

This latest PPA builds on a decade-long relationship between Google and Eneco, which began with renewable energy supply arrangements for Google's facilities in the Netherlands. The partnership has leveraged onshore, nearshore, and offshore wind farms across the country to provide clean energy to the tech giant's operations.
