Google to Purchase Output From RWE’s 155 MW Oklahoma Solar Farm
RWE and Google have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) covering the full output of the 155 MWac Crooked Creek Solar project in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. The agreement supports Google's operations within the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and marks RWE's first solar project in Oklahoma. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with commercial operation expected in 2028.
Under the agreement, Google will purchase all electricity generated by the utility-scale solar facility. RWE said the project is expected to strengthen regional electricity supply while adding new renewable generation capacity to the SPP grid.
At peak construction, the project is expected to support up to 250 jobs and generate an estimated US$24.3 million in local economic activity. Over its operating lifetime, Crooked Creek Solar is projected to contribute around US$25 million to McCurtain County through tax revenues and other economic benefits that support schools, emergency services, and community programs.
Will Conkling, Director of Energy and Power at Google, said the agreement will add new generation capacity to the regional grid, helping provide affordable and reliable electricity in Oklahoma. Ingmar Ritzenhofen, Chief Commercial Officer of RWE Americas, noted that the project reflects growing demand for renewable electricity from large commercial customers while supporting local economic development.
