Hitachi Energy to Power Finland’s Largest Solar Project with Cutting-Edge Transformer Technology

Hitachi Energy has secured a contract with CPC Finland to supply a power transformer for Finland's largest ongoing solar power project. The Lakari solar power plant, located in the Rauma industrial area, is set to generate an impressive 30 gigawatt hours of electricity annually, sufficient to heat approximately 1,600 private homes. This collaboration marks Hitachi Energy's fourth joint project in Finland, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the nation's transition to carbon neutrality.

Matti Vaattovaara, Managing Director at Hitachi Energy in Finland, expressed enthusiasm about their role as a technology partner in this groundbreaking clean energy initiative. As solar power takes center stage in global renewable energy growth, Hitachi Energy's power transformer at the Lakari solar plant will play a crucial role in elevating voltage levels for efficient electricity transmission.

Erik Trast, Managing Director of CPC Finland, highlighted the positive ongoing collaboration with Hitachi Energy, emphasizing the significance of this partnership in driving renewable energy projects. The Lakari solar power plant, with a maximum capacity of around 30 megawatts, is anticipated to commence solar power production by spring 2024, contributing significantly to Finland's renewable energy landscape.

Hitachi Energy's involvement extends beyond supplying transformers; it actively supports renewable generation projects throughout their life cycle, emphasizing the importance of sustainable, flexible, and secure energy systems. The company's Vaasa transformer factory is a cornerstone in this effort, producing transformers that contribute to clean wind power for millions of households globally.
