Iberdrola Brings 269 MW of Solar Online in Oregon
Iberdrola, through its U.S. subsidiary Avangrid, has brought two new photovoltaic plants into commercial operation in Wasco County, Oregon, adding a combined 269 MWdc of solar capacity.
The Daybreak Solar facility (189 MWdc) and Bakeoven Solar plant (80 MWdc) now supply power to Portland General Electric (PGE) as part of a statewide program designed to provide newly built renewable energy to municipal, industrial, and commercial customers, including major firms like Intel. The initiative aims to give these large customers more agile and competitive access to clean energy.
Iberdrola highlighted that the new plants will support the local economy and employment while reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the U.S., where it holds €49.4 billion in assets. The group plans to invest €16 billion in the country through 2028, serving nearly 10 million people across networks in New York, Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
The new solar capacity contributes to meeting rising electricity demand in the region and strengthens Oregon’s renewable energy infrastructure, aligning with broader sustainability and decarbonization goals across the United States.
