India’s First Bio-Hydrogen Project Secured by Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas

Homegrown engineering firm Gensol Engineering Ltd. and Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd. have emerged as the lowest bidders for India's pioneering bio-hydrogen project, with a bid valued at $20 million (₹164 crore ). This project marks a significant milestone in India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and will be developed in partnership with a leading power generation company.

The Gensol-Matrix consortium will oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the landmark project, which will convert 25 tonnes of bio-waste into 1 tonne of hydrogen per day. Scheduled for completion within 18 months, this project is a major step towards establishing a sustainable green hydrogen ecosystem in India.

The consortium has strategically partnered with Westinghouse, USA, leveraging their patented Pre-Gasification Plasma Induced Radiant Energy-Based Gasification System (GH2-PREGS) technology. This advanced technology has been successfully implemented in multiple plants worldwide and will play a critical role in the project's success.

Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director of Gensol Engineering, expressed pride in the company's achievement: "We are honored to emerge as the lowest bidder for EPC of India's first biomass-to-green hydrogen project. This project highlights our commitment to innovation and excellence in the renewable energy sector, aligning with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission."

Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director of Matrix Gas & Renewables, emphasized the importance of the project: "Our team is dedicated to executing this project with precision and efficiency, ensuring it serves as a model for future initiatives in the plasma waste-to-energy era."

Gensol Engineering is a leader in the renewable energy sector, specializing in solar EPC and electric mobility solutions, while Matrix Gas & Renewables is a rapidly growing developer of green hydrogen infrastructure and a natural gas aggregator.
