Shetland Islands - Viking Wind Farm is on course to go into renewable energy production in 2024 and is expected to be the most productive onshore wind farm in the UK when complete.

SSE Renewables has announced that a major milestone has been achieved at Viking Wind Farm as the pouring of concrete on the final wind turbine base has been completed. Working alongside Tony Gee and Partners and RJ McLeod (Contractors) Limited, the concrete pour process started in September 2021.

According to SSE Renewables, the next stage of the project will see Vestas turbines being delivered on site in early 2023 ahead of installation. Viking Wind Farm is on course to go into renewable energy production in 2024 and is expected to be the most productive onshore wind farm in the UK when complete, playing a crucial role in contributing towards the UK and Scotland's net-zero targets.
