Revolution Wind Completes 65-Turbine Installation
Revolution Wind, a 704 MW offshore wind project serving Rhode Island and Connecticut, has installed its 65th and final turbine.
Developed by Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables, the project began delivering electricity to the New England grid in March 2026 at partial output. Commercial operation is expected later this year, when the project will provide 400 MW to Rhode Island and 304 MW to Connecticut under 20-year power purchase agreements.
Construction was interrupted twice in 2025 by federal stop-work orders. Court rulings subsequently allowed work to resume.
The project is located 15 miles south of Rhode Island and includes two offshore substations.
“The completion of Revolution Wind is an important milestone for Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New England region,” said Hillary Bright, executive director of offshore wind advocacy group Turn Forward.
Revolution Wind is expected to add generation capacity to New England’s electricity system as regional demand continues to grow.
