rPlus Energies Expands Idaho Solar Footprint

rPlus Energies has commissioned its 125 MWac Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project and started construction of the 400 MWac Blacks Creek Energy Center in Ada County, Idaho, marking two major milestones in the company’s renewable energy expansion in the state.

The two projects represent a combined investment of more than US$750 million and are expected to expand Idaho’s solar and energy infrastructure while supporting the state’s clean energy transition.

Pleasant Valley Solar 2 is now operational, while construction begins on Blacks Creek Energy Center. Together with its existing, developing and contracted assets, rPlus Energies has now developed more than 1 GW of solar and energy storage capacity across Idaho, according to the company.

The projects are expected to create hundreds of construction jobs and provide long-term economic benefits through local tax contributions and ongoing operations.

As part of its community initiatives, project partners have committed US$375,000 in workforce development scholarships for students at Boise State University and the College of Western Idaho to support future clean energy workforce development.

The developments add further renewable generation capacity as Idaho continues to address growing electricity demand through a more diversified energy mix.
