Siemens Gamesa’s turbine sets new world record

Zamudio, SPAIN - The turbine is released for continuous full production to proceed with further testing.

Siemens Gamesa has announced that a new world record has been set. Their SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine prototype, the world's largest in operation, has produced 359 megawatt-hours within a 24-hour time - the most power one turbine has ever produced over this duration.

This is equal to the amount of energy needed to drive 1.8 million kilometers (1.1 million miles) in a mid-sized electric car. The turbine is released for continuous full production to proceed with further testing.
