Vestas to Supply Turbines for UK Vanguard East Offshore Wind Farm
Vestas has received a firm order from RWE for the 1,380 MW Vanguard East offshore wind project in the United Kingdom, following the confirmation of Vanguard West last month. The project will be located off the coast of Norfolk in East Anglia.
The order includes 92 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines. Vestas will be responsible for supplying, delivering, and commissioning the turbines and will provide five years of comprehensive service, followed by long-term operational support.
Sven Utermöhlen, CEO of RWE Offshore Wind, stated that a final investment decision for both Vanguard projects is expected in summer 2026, with major offshore construction to follow. Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe and Global Offshore, noted that the projects are part of the UK’s ongoing development of offshore wind capacity.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q4 2028, with commissioning expected in 2030. The projects contribute to the UK’s 2030 clean power targets.
Vestas has installed more than 201 GW of wind turbines in 88 countries and provides services for over 161 GW of turbines globally.
