ESTA International Awarded $2.26M Contract for Paraguay’s Smart Grid Implementation

US-based company ESTA International has secured a contract worth $2.26 million from Paraguay's state power company Ande to support the implementation of an integrated management system for electricity distribution.

The 50-month contract will involve specialized technical assistance in areas such as Scada, GIS, and cybersecurity. ESTA International emerged as the winner from a pool of bidders, with Consorcio ICEM being the other participant in the procurement process. The project is being financed with the assistance of the Latin American development bank CAF, following a call for proposals issued in August. Ande is also currently soliciting bids for the supervision of the 500kV Yguazú-Valenzuela transmission project.

In another initiative, EBY, the operator of the 3.2GW Yacyretá hydroelectric plant on the Argentina-Paraguay border, has extended the deadline for submitting offers in a tender for the implementation of a monitoring system until July 25. These developments mark significant strides in Paraguay's efforts to enhance its power infrastructure and implement advanced technologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of its electricity distribution network.
