European Commission Supports Greek Clean Tech Expansion
The European Commission has approved $462 million (€400 million) in state aid for Greece to boost its clean technology sector and support the country's transition to a net zero economy. The funding aligns with the objectives of the Clean Sky Agreement and is part of the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF) adopted in June 2025.
The scheme aims to fund strategic investments that expand production capacity for zero-emission technologies, including the use of secondary raw materials and production of critical components. Support will come through direct grants and fiscal incentives, available to enterprises across Greece until 31 December 2030.
The European Commission confirmed that the scheme meets CISAF requirements, ensuring it creates incentives for clean technology production without significant market distortion. Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice President responsible for a clean, fair, and competitive transition, stated that the initiative will help Greece increase production capacity for clean technologies, contributing to broader EU green industry objectives.
Under CISAF, the scheme falls into a broader EU effort to support renewable energy, low-carbon fuels, industrial decarbonization, and the production of critical raw materials necessary for the green transition.
