Eurowind Energy Acquires 11 Solar Projects in Portugal

16 Sep 2024
Eurowind Energy has signed an agreement to acquire 11 photovoltaic (PV) projects in Portugal's Aveiro district, each with a 5 MW capacity. These projects, at advanced development stages, are expected to reach "ready-to-build" status between Q3 2024 and Q2 2025. The acquisition deal with Insun, a developer with a 2.5 GW track record in Portugal and Romania, ensures the transaction will only be finalized for projects ready for construction.

If fully realized, these projects would add 55 MW to Eurowind Energy's portfolio, supplying electricity to approximately 36,100 homes and cutting CO2 emissions by over 30,800 tonnes annually. This acquisition will nearly double the company's installed PV capacity in Portugal to 120 MW.

Eurowind Energy plans to launch a tender for civil, mechanical, electrical works, and grid connection lines. The projects are part of the company's broader strategy to diversify and optimize its renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind, battery storage, and green hydrogen. The growing Portuguese renewable energy market presents significant opportunities amid rising demand and favorable public policies.
