Eurowind Energy Begins Installation of 120-MWh BESS in Romania
Eurowind Energy Romania, the local unit of Eurowind Energy A/S, has entered the installation and integration phase of its Teius Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Teius, Alba County, Transylvania.
The company confirmed it has taken delivery of the main equipment for the project, which will have a minimum storage capacity of 116.96 MWh and exceed 120 MWh in its final delivery configuration.
The total investment has been revised to EUR 21 million (USD 24.4 million). Financial backing is being provided under Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded to Visual Fan SA, with a value of more than EUR 16.6 million.
The BESS containers integrate lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and include a Battery Management System (BMS) designed for real-time monitoring of key performance parameters. The system also incorporates advanced safety features.
In Teius, Eurowind Energy Romania previously commissioned a 60.2-MW solar park in 2025. The developer also operates renewable energy projects in Halchiu, Magurele and Pufesti, and expects to reach a total operational capacity of 124 MW in Romania by the end of the second quarter.
