Eurowind Energy Inaugurates 48MW Pecineaga Wind Farm in $103M Romania Investment
Eurowind Energy has officially inaugurated the Pecineaga Wind Farm in Romania, marking a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy expansion. The project represents an investment of approximately €90 million (~$103 million USD) and adds 48MW of installed wind power capacity to the national grid.
Located in Constanța County, the wind farm strengthens Romania’s efforts to scale up clean energy production and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Pecineaga Wind Farm consists of eight wind turbines equipped with modern high-capacity technology designed for efficient energy generation even in low-wind conditions.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to:
- Supply electricity to approximately 48,000 households annually
- Generate around 176,000 MWh of renewable energy per year
- Reduce carbon emissions and support Romania’s decarbonisation targets
The project is considered one of Eurowind Energy’s most important developments in Romania to date. The total investment of €90 million (around $103 million USD) places the project among the larger onshore wind developments in the region.
Construction began in 2023, with phased development including: infrastructure works and grid connection systems, installation of turbine foundations and progressive turbine commissioning and testing phases. The wind farm has now entered full operational status following inauguration.
The Pecineaga project contributes directly to Romania’s broader renewable energy strategy, which aims to expand wind and solar capacity to meet EU climate targets. By increasing local renewable generation, the project also enhances: energy security, grid stability and long-term electricity price resilience.
Romania has seen increasing investment in wind energy in recent years, particularly in coastal regions such as Dobrogea, which offer strong wind resources.
Eurowind Energy continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio in the country, with additional wind, solar, and hybrid projects under development.
