Ferrovial to Build $355M, 250 MW Solar Facility in Texas
Ferrovial, a global infrastructure leader, has announced plans to build a 250 MW solar photovoltaic facility in Milam County, Texas, with a total investment of approximately $355 million, including debt. The facility is expected to generate about 450 GWh of electricity annually--enough to power 43,000 homes--and will support the growing energy demands in the region.
Construction is slated to begin in the coming months and will create nearly 300 construction-phase jobs. The project is scheduled to begin delivering electricity by 2027, strengthening the Texas power grid and supporting economic growth.
MarÃa José Esteruelas, CEO of Ferrovial Energy, emphasized the project's community benefits: "As data centers multiply and energy needs continue to increase, this facility will bring lasting value to the region by creating jobs, supporting local services and strengthening energy reliability."
This new facility expands Ferrovial's solar portfolio in Texas, joining its 257 MWdc plant in Leon County and a 72 MW project near Houston, developed for client X-Elio.
The Milam County development aligns with broader efforts to increase renewable energy production and reduce emissions across the U.S., particularly in high-growth states like Texas.
