Fluence and Torch Clean Energy Launch 160 MW Battery Storage Project in Arizona
Fluence Energy, Inc. and Torch Clean Energy have announced a partnership to deliver a 160 MW / 640 MWh battery energy storage project in Cochise County, Arizona, aimed at supporting the state's growing energy demand and improving grid reliability.
The Winchester project, developed by Torch Clean Energy, will be co-located with two 80 MW solar arrays and will utilize Fluence's Gridstack Pro 5000™ energy storage system. Delivery is expected in early 2027.
The system will include domestically manufactured components such as enclosures, inverters, and thermal management systems--enabling the project to qualify for domestic content tax incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.
According to John Zahurancik, President of Fluence Americas, the project will bolster grid stability and contribute to local economic development: "This facility is a great step toward ensuring affordable, reliable, and secure power for the local community."
Travis Haggard, President of Torch Clean Energy, highlighted the role of the storage system in enhancing dispatch flexibility: "The Gridstack Pro 5000 will allow us to shift cost-effective solar generation to be dispatched when the grid needs it most."
With over 22 GWh of storage deployed or contracted across 90+ U.S. projects, Fluence continues to expand its footprint in the domestic clean energy sector.
