GE Renewable Energy hosted U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm

6 Jun 2022

NEW ORLEANS - GE Renewable Energy hosted U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm for a visit to LM Wind Power blade test center outside of New Orleans.

GE Renewable Energy hosted Secretary Graham and showcased their research to help make wind turbine blades lighter, longer and stronger as well as their research into using 3D printing to design and manufacture onshore and offshore wind turbine blade tips. Wind power has a main role to play in powering the U.S. with affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.

During the visit, the GE team thanked her for the leadership that President Biden has shown on renewable energy by setting goals of adding 30 GW of offshore wind by 2030, creating a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035 and establishing a net zero emissions economy by 2050.

The GE team said that energy policy is very important in advancing those ambitious goals. Those policies include the extension of the Production Tax Credit and incentivize industry to maintain the robust supply chain that has built America into a leader in wind energy. Such policies can help to ensure that energy remains affordable, reliable, and sustainable for all Americans.
