GE Vernova Acquires Alteia to Bolster AI-Driven Grid Intelligence
GE Vernova has announced its intent to acquire French artificial intelligence firm Alteia SAS to strengthen its GridOS® Visual Intelligence platform. The acquisition is part of GE Vernova's broader strategy to expand its AI and data capabilities for electric utilities worldwide.
Alteia, based in France, specializes in machine learning and computer vision software for analyzing large-scale visual data. Its solutions are already integrated into GridOS® Visual Intelligence, enabling utility providers to monitor infrastructure, assess storm damage, inspect assets, and manage vegetation along transmission lines.
This acquisition is expected to deepen integration between visual data and core operational tools such as Advanced Distribution Management Software (ADMS). The goal is to improve grid visibility, reduce outage risks, and enhance resilience during extreme weather events.
According to the company, this move aligns with GE Vernova's mission to lead in AI-enabled grid orchestration software, allowing utilities to act faster and smarter when responding to disruptions or planning infrastructure upgrades.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close by August 1, 2025.
