GE Vernova and Next Hydrogen Join Forces to Drive Green Hydrogen Revolution

GE Vernova's Power Conversion business and Next Hydrogen Solutions Inc. have entered into a memorandum of understanding, marking a pivotal collaboration in the pursuit of advancing green hydrogen technologies. The agreement focuses on integrating Next Hydrogen's electrolysis technology with GE Vernova's power systems offerings to facilitate the production of green hydrogen. This partnership underscores GE Vernova's commitment to decarbonization, as the integration of Next Hydrogen's electrolysis technology is a key element in harnessing green hydrogen as a sustainable power source.

Green hydrogen, produced through the electrolysis process, is crucial for sustainable energy systems. The collaboration strategically positions GE Vernova's Power Conversion to provide Next Hydrogen's water electrolyzers with direct current (DC) power sourced from renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydro. This integration involves a comprehensive approach, incorporating DC power supplies, synchronous condensers, energy storage, motors and drives for compression and water, and controls with Energy Management (EMS). The result is a turnkey system that aligns with the upcoming generation of Next Hydrogen electrolyzers, slated for launch in 2024.

Raveel Afzaal, President, and CEO of Next Hydrogen expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Our partnership with GE Vernova supports Next Hydrogen's commitment to pioneering innovative green hydrogen technologies, addressing climate change, and promoting global energy sustainability for a cleaner future." Rodrigo Elias, General Manager North America for GE Vernova's Power Conversion business, affirmed the companies' dedication to driving the hydrogen revolution and contributing to decarbonization across various industries.

In the initial phase, GE Vernova and Next Hydrogen plan to pioneer advanced power systems, with subsequent phases focusing on market demonstrations and large-scale commercial green hydrogen initiatives.
