GE Vernova Secures 71.5 MW Wind Turbine Orders in Germany

23 Apr 2026

U.S.-based energy company GE Vernova has secured new agreements to supply onshore wind turbines to developers BBWind and Greenvolt Power for multiple projects across Germany.

The contracts cover the delivery of approximately 71.5 MW of wind turbine capacity, reinforcing GE Vernova’s position in one of Europe’s largest onshore wind markets.

The agreements include a continued partnership with BBWind, a developer focused on community-based wind projects, as well as a new phase of collaboration with Greenvolt Power, highlighting GE Vernova’s growing footprint in Germany.

According to the company, the projects will utilise its onshore “workhorse” turbine platforms, which are designed to deliver reliable performance across a range of wind conditions.

Commenting on the orders, GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer for onshore wind, international markets, Gilan Sabatier, said:
“We are proud to deepen our relationship with BBWind and embark on this significant volume of work with Greenvolt Power.”

He added:
“These orders for over 70 MWs demonstrate the trust our customers place in our workhorse turbines to deliver reliable, renewable energy.”

From BBWind, Michael Schlüß highlighted the importance of the partnership:
“The continued cooperation with GE Vernova is a testament to the reliability and performance of their technology in the community wind sector.”

The turbines will be produced at GE Vernova’s manufacturing facility in Salzbergen, Germany, supporting local supply chains and aligning with the country’s renewable energy ambitions.

Germany remains a key market for onshore wind, having installed around 4.6 GW of capacity in 2025, with a national target to generate 80% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

The new orders reflect ongoing momentum in the German wind sector, where developers are scaling projects to meet increasing demand for clean electricity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

More broadly, the agreements highlight how partnerships between turbine manufacturers and project developers continue to play a central role in advancing Europe’s energy transition and expanding renewable generation capacity.
