GE Vernova's Hydro Power business has been chosen by Hafslund Eco to supply new Rotorpoles for the Aurland 1 hydropower plant in Norway.

The project aims to replace the Rotorpoles of the plant's water-cooled generators, ensuring their efficiency for the long term. By combining the generator service with the hydropower plant's refurbishment program, downtime will be optimized. This project highlights Norway's commitment to hydropower as a key element of its renewable energy infrastructure.

With over 90% of power generation in Norway coming from hydropower, GE Vernova's involvement in enhancing the efficiency of the Aurland 1 plant is significant. The water-cooled generators offer higher power output and efficiency compared to air-cooled ones, reducing operating temperatures and ventilation losses.
