GE Vernova to Supply 17 Turbines for 100MW Fortore Wind Farm in Italy

5 Mar 2026
GE Vernova has secured a contract to supply 17 onshore wind turbines for the Fortore wind farm in Benevento, southern Italy. The agreement was awarded by renewable energy operator IVPC Group for a project expected to deliver more than 100MW of installed capacity.

The wind farm was among the largest projects approved in a December 2025 auction held by Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), Italy’s state-owned energy agency responsible for promoting renewable energy development.

Under the contract, GE Vernova will supply 17 turbines rated at 6.1MW each. The machines will incorporate two-piece blade technology designed to improve transportability and access to complex sites while maintaining high energy generation performance.

Deliveries of the turbines are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

According to Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for international markets at GE Vernova’s onshore wind business, the project strengthens the company’s presence in Italy and supports the country’s ongoing energy transition.

The agreement also includes a tailored operations and maintenance framework established in the fourth quarter of 2025. Under the arrangement, IVPC Group and GE Vernova will collaborate on transactional maintenance activities during the project’s operational phase.

The project builds on previous cooperation between the two companies, including the installation of the first Cypress 6.1MW wind turbine at IVPC Group’s Montefalcone site as part of a repowering initiative aimed at increasing capacity and extending asset lifespan.

Globally, GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division has installed approximately 59,000 turbines, representing nearly 120GW of generating capacity.
