GE Vernova to Supply 42 Wind Turbines for Major Romanian Wind Project
GE Vernova Inc. has announced a new agreement with Greenvolt International Power to deliver 42 of its 6.1 MW-158m onshore wind turbines to the Ialomiţa wind farm in Romania. The project will have a total installed capacity of approximately 252 MW, making it one of the largest wind energy installations in the country.
Deliveries of the turbines are expected to begin in 2026, with installation and commissioning following shortly after. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to produce enough clean electricity to power more than 110,000 Romanian homes and businesses annually.
Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova's Onshore Wind business in International Markets, highlighted the importance of the project in the region. "This project reinforces the value of our workhorse product strategy and demonstrates our ability to add value for customers in Romania and across Europe," he said.
The Ialomiţa project aligns with Romania's national goals to scale up renewable energy by 2030 and signals continued momentum for GE Vernova's onshore wind operations in Europe. The company currently boasts a global installed base of approximately 57,000 wind turbines, totaling nearly 120 GW of capacity.
