Geronimo Power Begins Operations at 270MW Blevins Solar Project in Texas
U.S. developer Geronimo Power has announced the start of commercial operations at its Blevins Solar Project, a 270 MW solar facility located in Falls County, Texas, within the ERCOT market.
The project marks a significant addition to Texas’ renewable energy capacity, delivering low-cost, reliable electricity while supporting local economic development.
Electricity from the project will be supplied under previously announced power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Fujifilm and Bristol Myers Squibb, both of which are using the project to advance their decarbonisation strategies.
Commenting on the milestone, Geronimo Power Vice President of Operations Gemma Smith said:
“The Blevins project reflects Geronimo's commitment to building energy infrastructure that delivers real value to communities.”
She added:
“Working alongside partners such as Fujifilm and Bristol Myers Squibb, we're delivering dependable power and meaningful economic investment while advancing our shared commitment to community-focused, responsibly built clean energy.”
The project is expected to deliver significant local economic benefits, including approximately $33.8 million in direct economic impact over its first 20 years, with $32.5 million in new tax revenue supporting local schools, emergency services, and public infrastructure.
During construction, the development supported around 400 jobs, and it will maintain a small number of permanent operational roles.
In addition to economic benefits, the Blevins project is expected to offset more than 9 million metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions over 20 years—equivalent to removing approximately 101,700 vehicles from the road for one year.
The facility is also expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 88,900 homes annually, contributing to Texas’ growing clean energy supply.
The project forms part of Geronimo Power’s broader strategy to expand utility-scale renewable generation across the United States, with a focus on delivering community-driven energy infrastructure and supporting long-term grid decarbonisation.
